As of 11:00am today, it is confirmed that 12 people have been shot and killed and an additional 38 wounded in a tragic movie shooting during the premiere of Batman, The Dark Knight Rises. Around 12:30am, 24 year old James Holmes came into the movie theater and let tear gas cannisters out, and then began shooting.
One could easily speculate about the motives of this 24 year old man.. what were his motivations, was he a fan of Batman, was he trying to mimick the “Joker”? However, Barack Obama, the President of the United States, addressed a crowd in Florida today and stated that today was a day for reflection and prayer.. I couldn’t agree more. Reguardless of the motives, the truth is that fellow fans have had their lives taken from them. Today, all fandoms should unite in support of these victims and their families.
It should also be noted that the Paris premiere of the Batman movie has been canelled due to the tragedy.
